As many students made their way home from a night out at the library during the early morning hours of Friday, a group of unidentified engineering students from the School of Mines broke into the construction site of the addition to the International Studies Building. Security footage shows that the students proceeded to tamper with the transmissions of the construction vehicles preventing them from accelerating forward while still allowing for the vehicles to reverse.
As Friday dawned, many students were woken by a seemingly endless beeping noise from the reversing bobcats and trucks outside the majority of residence halls. As the morning continued, groggy and very hungover students could be seen sleeping on the floors of the relatively soundproof bathrooms in J-Mac in an apparent effort to protect their throbbing headaches from the incessant noise of construction vehicles in reverse. No one could be reached for comment; however, one campus police officer quipped, we added Friday classes for a reason.
At press time the Mines students have yet to be identified.
