In defense of the anti-vaccination movement, Fox News has forgone all vaccinations for many years now. The movement started strong and Fox News got to bask in the limelight of success as no one was infected… yet. At least until this week.
Over 50% of Fox News staff has now contracted measles from the latest Disneyland outbreak. This is the highest number of measles cases ever recorded at Fox News (let alone the entire United States). The news station defends that the new strain of the virus, from the Philippines, is the cause of their illness. Although the country of origin is true, the rest is not. To add insult to injury, Fox News also presented contradicting facts on the right hand side of the screen during the same report.
The contradicting facts read “The current strain of measles is from the Philippines as the disease is currently extinct in America. The measles has spread to 17 states with more to follow because of America’s lack of herd immunity. Herd immunity is the sole reason measles and other preventable diseases have been extinct in America until now. 92% – 94% of a population must be vaccinated in order for herd immunity to take effect. If the vaccinated population falls below the 92% threshold, a disease can spread.” Fox News was well below the 92% threshold of vaccinated people. Because of this, measles has now infected a greater percentage of people at Fox News (55%) than percentage of people at Fox News who tell the truth (18%).
The open positions air time at Fox will either be filled with temporary newscasters or reruns of Futurama.
No matter what how the air time is filled, the message remains clear. Vaccinate yourselves and your children. It is in the best interest of your health and the community’s health.
