Spring Break is just around the corner. With a week off school, what do you plan to do? For everyone staying in Denver, there are plenty of activities whether you want to stay inside or explore something new. Here are several Denver spring break ideas that you will want to check out.
Denver is home to some of the greatest museums around. Spend a day at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science exploring their new exhibit Vikings: Beyond the Legend that opens March 10. Be sure to explore the Museum’s planetarium as well. Also, be sure to check out the Denver Art Museum, which is featuring the exhibit: Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume. This exhibit features more than 70 original costumes and examines the process of costume design for iconic outfits featured throughout the Star Wars™ series.
During spring break DU offers a multitude of Spring Interterm Courses, both on campus or in destination locations. From learning stress management in Aspen to learning about Small Business Start Up & Management around the Denver metro area, there is something for everyone.
Spring Break is also the perfect time to catch up on some reading. Take advantage of your break by getting lost in a good book or go explore the Tattered Covered Book Store in Downtown Denver.
Head outside for a hike. Whether you are a beginner or expert, Colorado is home to countless trails. Just outside of Denver, in Morrison, is Red Rocks Amphitheater. Here, you will find several trails to explore and enjoy the scenery of a world famous venue. Or head up to Boulder and explore the flatirons, and after head to the historic Pearl Street for shopping and food.
While Denver may experience some warmer weather, the mountains are still covered in snow. Head up during the week to go skiing, snow shoeing, and spend some time in the snow before it is too late.
Spend in afternoon at Washington Park. Located close to campus, Wash Park is the perfect place to walk, run, or bike. A lake and several fields set the scene for a fun day with friends or a personal day for yourself. Have a picnic, bring a dog, or a volleyball game, the possibilities are endless.
As the city of Denver continues to grow, so do its restaurant options. One of Denver’s most talked about spots is Avanti Food and Beverage, which can be compared to a food hall with seven restaurant concepts from seven different chefs. Featuring two floors and great views of downtown, this is one of Denver’s boldest restaurants. Be sure to also check out the up-and-coming Highlands Neighborhood as well as the RiNo art district. Both are home to some Denver’s trendiest restaurants. Favorites include Highland Tap and Burger, Linger, Postino, Los Chingones, and Mister Tuna.
